Jacod Dlamini wrote a book entitled Native Nostalgia and he discusses his and other African Black -- as opposed to coloured and Indian Black people -- people's nostalgic relationship with Afrikaans.
I haven't read the book yet but it seems interesting.
I also know quite a couple of Black African people who enjoy speaking Afrikaans. They 'get' poems and lyrics that are in Afrikaans. So I get frustrated with white people who think that it's 'their' language. It's my language, damnit!
There was this article in Beeld recently that said Black people don't 'live' the language. That's quite funny when there are Black poets, writers and rap groups.
